FAQs
In order to best support our students and student organizations, there is a NEW process this year for submitting SAMI applications! Please review the details of the website closely.

The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI) created Student Academic Multicultural Initiatives (SAMI) in 1993 in order to provide students and student organizations with a source of funds for involvement in academic multicultural activities. In broadest terms, multiculturalism can include groups that are organized on the basis of cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, age, gender, social class, and sexual orientation differences. It is essential, therefore, that an organization such as the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives define within the broad realm of "multiculturalism" just who it represents. No one office or organization can or should lay claim to representing all possible groups or combinations of groups that can legitimately claim that they are part of the ever expanding multicultural category.

Consistent with OAMI's goals, the SAMI Committee encourages and considers student proposals for projects and activities designed to educate the campus community on these issues.
